The Position:


The Director of Events & Engagement reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Annual Fund and is responsible for the management of all events tied to University fundraising. Responsibilities include the strategy, conception, development, management and execution of all fundraising events. The IA Director will support and service all Major Gift Officers across all schools and centers in their programmatic needs and as needed, work with other internal and external stakeholders. The Director also serves as the primary liaison between the Institutional Advancement department and the University Events office and will collaborate appropriately. The Director will oversee 1-2 Events Managers.  The Director interfaces with senior leadership across the university for event production. Supervises a staff of two and maintains budgetary responsibility for IA events.


  • Grow revenue by developing strategies aimed at maximizing impact of events
  • Take a leadership role in the creation and development of fundraising programs including content, strategy and participants
  • Manage event committees, and liaise with key fundraising and event leadership (professional and volunteer)
  • Oversee logistics and strategies related to event execution
  • Manage cross-functional teams (e.g. marketing/communications, university events, etc.) and work collaboratively as part of a positive, supportive culture
  • Own the creation and maintenance of all project timelines and budgets
  • Conduct comparisons and analyses of budgets and projects which are annual
  • Manage all executional elements of programming, including catering, decor, a/v, design, etc.
  • Work under pressure in fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines


Experience and Educational Background:


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight or more years of experience with donor relations and volunteer management
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff
