The Position:

 

Wurzweiler School of Social Work is seeking a Graduate Admissions Director to oversee all aspects of the admissions process for our MSW and PhD programs. The position includes active recruiting of MSW students in the New York metropolitan area, nationally and internationally, converting leads into deposits for three annual program start times, implementing marketing strategies that promote WSSW in a competitive market, working with faculty, staff and other administrators to ensure a successful admissions process; and identifying ways to improve the application experience for students. The Director reports to the Dean and works collaboratively with the Associate Dean and an active Admissions Committee comprised of faculty and staff.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to support the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse and qualified student body of both domestic and international students
  • Recruit candidates through participation in undergraduate career fairs, outreach to BSW programs and social service agencies, and information sessions and open houses
  • Review and evaluate all applications for admission, supervise Admissions Counselor, and oversee the interview process for all applicants
  • Allocate Wurzweiler’s endowed scholarship program in excess of $4 million and assist students with accessing student financial aid
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Finance and other admissions offices at YU
  • Interface with YU’s Communications Office to develop ads, brochures, social media campaigns and other recruitment materials
  • Convene and facilitate the Faculty Admissions Committee on a monthly basis
  • Report to the faculty and administration on a regular basis on progress in admissions
  • Improve and expand the online admissions processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Educational Background:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; a master’s degree is preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in admissions with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Knowledge of social work or human services is a plus

Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly organized and capable of building a data-driven admissions office
  • Supervisory experience and is capable of strategic planning
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to take multiple ideas and convert them to an implemented recruiting plan
  • Capable of representing the school and our programs in a wide range of settings and venues
  • Friendly, upbeat and comfortable with public interaction
  • Has the ability to work with and recruit a diverse student body
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as keen assessment skills
